End of indoor season shoot confirmed

We're delighted to announce the details of the end of indoor season shoot which this year will be held on the 24th of March at our usual Saturday venue (Netherhall School).

We'll be shooting a Portsmouth round. Medals and certificates will be available in five different classes:-

  • Compound
  • Recurve (Snr.)
  • Recurve (Jnr.)
  • Longbow/Barebow
  • Novices (those who have been shooting for less than a year)

So everyone should be in with a shout of a medal and either way it should be a good social and the chance to get together as a whole club and enjoy a good morning's shooting so why not come along and have a bit of a giggle.

Watch out for details of the "end-of-season" shoot

Keep a close eye on the web-site as we're putting the final touches to the plans for the end of season shoot. This year we'll be offering a Portsmouth round with classes which will give all club members a good chance of a medal.

For those of you not familiar with the Portsmouth round, it consists of 5-doz. arrows, shot in ends of three at a 60cm target face at 20yds. Ten-zone scoring is used (inner gold=10, outer gold=9, etc.) with a maximum score of 600.

A blank score-sheet will be available in the members area shortly for those of you who fancy getting some practice in before hand!

The date is yet to be decided, but we'll post this information soon.

Blowing away the cobwebs with a Frostbite round

Shannon checks her score

Members braved a chilly afternoon to blow away the Christmas/New Year cobwebs last Wednesday (28th Dec) with a Frostbite round at our regular outdoor shooting venue in Cambridge.

Although the weather was kind, everyone was pleased to re-fuel and warm up with hot chocolate at half time.

Check out pictures of the event here.

Fun & games at the Christmas shoot

Fun & games at the Christmas shoot

Chris, Francis and James debate a line-cutter

Club members came out in force to support the Christmas fun shoot this year which was held at our regular Saturday indoor venue of Netherhall School.

The target list filled up quickly with a great mix of Juniors and Seniors in Recurve, Barebow and Compound disciplines.

After a brief talk by our "Elf'n'Safety" Elf Philip and a welcome and introduction by our Lady Paramount, Mary, the shoot got underway with a fantastic selection of novelty targets on offer.

Mince Pies and Fruit Punch at half-time gave everyone the chance to mingle and share hints on how best to score each boss before getting back to the not so serious business of racking up the points!

After a great shoot, the final positions were:-

  • Snr. Recurve Champion: Chris Fernie
  • Snr. Barebow Champion: James Bridges
  • Snr. Compound Champion: Francis Williams
  • Jnr. Recurve Champion: Toby Bingham
  • Jnr. Recurve 2nd place: Pia Doh
  • Jnr. Recurve 3rd place: Ciaran Tunmer
  • Jnr. Barebow Champion: Joe Bridges
  • Jnr. Barebow 2nd place: Michael Beal
Check out the pictures here.

Christmas Shoot

Many thanks to both Phil and Mary for organizing it.

Old domain restored

netherhallarchers.org.uk

The old domain name netherhallarchers.org.uk has been restored, so any old references out there to our website should start working again. Thanks to Martin for getting the transfer organized.

However our preference is to use the domain netherhall-archers.org, and the old ones will probably not be renewed when they expire in a couple years time.

Next Beginners' Course scheduled

The next beginners' course has been scheduled to start on:

Pia Bags FITA Arrow Award

Club Awards

We are trying to encourage all members, and particularly our younger members, to try out for some awards. And in this spirit a FITA White Arrow Award was presented to Pia at last Saturday's shooting session.

Well done, Pia!

For more information on awards for beginners and novices (both juniors and adults), take a look at ArcheryGB Awards to aim for, which has details of the FITA Feather and Arrow schemes.

New Beginners' Session

Another beginners' training course kick-off

On Saturday 12th November another Beginners' course started, with nine attendees! This was a great start, and the first session went extremely well.

See the Beginner's page if you're interested in participating in the next Beginners training course.

Restored domain

More domain name administration.

The domain name netherhallarchers.org has been restored, and points to the same server as the netherhall-archers.org. We prefer the latter since it separates the words and makes it easier to read. We will continue to support the non-hyphenated name.

The email address listing in the Contact Us page will also work with the domain netherhallarchers.org.

Note that the domain name netherhallarchers.org.uk is no longer being retained.
