1. Cambridgeshire County Championships 2. Tournament Deadlines - PLEASE READ!

1. Cambridgeshire County Championships
On Sunday 17th June Netherhall Archers hosted the Cambridgeshire Outdoor Championships. This year's was one of the biggest competitions ever, with nearly 80 archers shooting the York, Hereford, Bristol or National Rounds.
Huge amounts of gratitude go to the tireless working party - Rob, Mary and Kate Pennington, Chris Fernie and Ian Caulfield, who kept the shoot running smoothly despite the late start, and to Jane Williams who generously kept the refreshments tent well supplied and sold lots (and lots and lots!) of raffle tickets. Thanks also to everyone who contributed their time, cakes and raffle prizes, particularly our new members!
Unfortunately there was no one shooting for Netherhall, but two archers who practice with Netherhall did win gold medals, so there was a moral victory for the club!

2. Tournament Deadlines

East Anglian Championship Sunday 1st July, Littleport Leisure Centre, nr Ely Round: FITA/Metric, Cost: £8/£6
Results Below

Fenland Archers Open Tournament Saturday 7th July, Sir Harry Smith Community College, Whittlesey Round: St George/Albion/Windsors, Cost: £7/£5 Closing date: Thursday 28th June

City of Cambridge Bowmen Open Tournament Sunday 15th July, Trinity New Field, Barton Road, Cambridge Round: Windsors, Cost: £6/£4 Closing date: Thursday 28th June

The East Anglia Championship is a county competition where all archers have the opportunity to represent the county team. We will already have two club members there, so it would be great to make up a whole club team!
The Fenland and CCB competitions are a great introduction to archers looking for a way in to competitive archery. In particular, CCB is very local, and the maximum distances are fairly short, so you don't need to worry if you haven't quite made it to 100 yards yet! Once again, it would be fantastic to get a club team appearing at both of these.
If you want to go to any of these competitions, or you're not sure what it entails and you'd like to know more, PLEASE email me, or approach me at practice tonight or on Thursday. Remember, I need your GNAS number (if you have it) and your entry fee by the deadline dates.

UPDATE 03 July 2007
1. Tournaments to enter - last call 2. Match report - East Anglian Championships 3. Netherhall Annual BBQ - Saturday 28th July

1. Tournaments to enter - last call If you are interested in either the Jolly Archers Western or the CCB Windsor (or both!), PLEASE can I have your names ASAP and no later than SUNDAY. Details of each are in previous emails. I'll definitely be attending Jollys (assuming there's still space!) so I'd love to have a bit of company!
2. Match report - East Anglian Championships Ian and I attended the East Anglian Championships, which was held in Littleport, this Sunday. The venue itself was lovely, and hopefully Ely Archers will be running more competitions there over the years. The weather, however, wasn't so great, and in fact the wind was so powerful that we were forced to abandon the shoot after only 7 dozen! Scores were pretty low generally due to the difficult crosswind, but I came second in the ladies' recurve category, and Ian came sixth in the men's recurve. Cambridgeshire won the county trophy, beating Bedfordshire, Norfolk and Essex, so a good result for Cambridgeshire.
3. Netherhall Annual BBQ - Saturday 28th July This is just to give you advance warning of the Netherhall BBQ, which will be happening at the end of this month(venue almost opposite Netherhall School, so you shouldn't have any problems finding it! ask committee members or Diana on a shooting night). More details to follow - book this date in your diary now!
Thanks again for reading, as always!
